The New Alabang Village
Alabang was born in 1972. This happened when the Ayala Corporation was offered land by the Madrigal family. The corporation did not want to purchase it though. Instead they set up a joint venture with the family.
The Madrigal family agreed to the proposal by 1975 and work started in 1976. Very quickly the amount of lots that were available were sold out. There were more people that wanted property than property to go around. As a result, the group purchase more land in the surrounding areas.
The area was developed in phases by the Ayala Corporation in order to ensure that the various segments were opened as soon as possible. The first phase went public in 1977. There were strict standards in place when it came to residency and buyers still have to meet those standards nowadays.
At the time of writing, Alabang Village sprawls across 6.7 square kilometers of land and is just 20 minutes away from the South Luzon Expressway. 30% of the land is specifically for useful amenities. This includes roads, play areas, parks, schools and churches. The area is surrounded by Manila Bay and Laguna Bay.
At the heart of the area is the Alabang Country Club. This was the first country club in the Philippines which included a number of amenities. This was a golf club, riding school, sports club and polo club.
One of the main attractions in the area is Alabang Town Center which acts as a commercial center. This was opened in May 1982 and consists of a movie theater, arcade, supermarket and various other shops and food places. The area is constantly undergoing construction to increase offerings to residents.
Elsewhere in the village, prospective residents will be able to find a group of Alabang Townhouses. This area has been developed especially for those who are searching for a condominium. Many of the locations within New Alabang have been designed with a specific architectural style in mind, for example, one region is dedicated to the style known as Filipino Baroque.
There is also an employee housing project. His allows people with high and low income levels to share the same facilities. The architecture in this area is very Mediterranean influenced. This area is still undergoing construction with Phase 1 and Phase 2 now complete.
It is the Barangay Hall where the residents of the area are able to discuss the needs for the area. There are three schools within the area with more in the areas that surround Alabang.
